Your Camp Leaders

Patrick Oaten is the Head Coach of the Senior Men's National Team and is also the Pathway Technical Lead for Water Polo Canada.
Coach Oaten served as head coach of the Canadian Senior Women's national water polo team from 2002 to 2012, guiding the program through its early Olympic era. Under his leadership, the team achieved a historic 7th-place finish at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, marking a significant milestone as women's water polo entered its second Olympic cycle following its debut in 2000.
Coach Oaten also guided Team Canada's Senior Women's Team to a bronze medal at the 2002 World Cup, a silver medal at the 2009 World Championships, a silver medal at the 2009 World League Super Final, and then a bronze medal at the 2005 FINA World Championships, where Coach Oaten earned the Jack Donohue Coach of the Year Award.
In 2003, Coach Oaten led the Canadian Junior National Team to a gold medal at the World Championships as well as a silver medal at the 1999 Junior World Championships.
These achievements not only showcased Coach Oaten's strategic acumen in high-pressure scenarios but also left a lasting legacy for Canadian water polo by inspiring youth participation and professionalizing training structures.
He later served as head coach for the Brazilian women's national team at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where the team finished eighth.

Also attending is the Assistant Coach of the Canadian Men's National Team, Gyula Toth.
Coach Gyula has been a long-time coach within the Canadian water polo community and for the national team. He is also an expert goalie coach.
He has worked with Canada’s senior men’s and women’s national teams for many years.

His coaching foundation was developed at KSI in Budapest, Hungary, one of the world’s leading clubs for youth athlete development, where he worked with cadet, youth, junior, and senior teams. He later brought this strong player-development background into the Canadian system, serving as Head Coach of Canada’s Junior, Youth, and U18 Men’s National Teams.
Coach Gyula s currently the Head Coach of Calgary Wild Water Polo Club.
