2025/26 Annual Meeting

Pursuant to the MWPA By-Laws and The Corporation Act, an Annual Meeting is being called to for September 28, 2026, at 7:30 PM to be held virtually on the Teams platform.

All members are invited to attend; however, only Member Clubs and participating School Divisions and the Manitoba Federation of Independent Schools (MFIS) may appoint delegates have the right to participate in the formal business, including motions and voting.

Other attendees will not have voting rights. Where questions or comments from non-voting attendees are appropriate, they can be recognized by the Chair at the appropriate point in the meeting rather than interrupting the formal business of the AGM.

Please note: Under By-Law 3.8, any Member may raise special business at a meeting of the Members, in the form of a proposal, amendment of By-laws, or for general discussion, provided it contains the name and address of the member, a statement of less than 200 words in support, and is submitted to the MWPA at least ninety (90) days prior to the anniversary date of the previous AM. The MWPA is not required to comply with a Member proposal if it has been submitted fewer than ninety (90) days prior to the anniversary date of the previous Annual Meeting, if it is clearly for the Member’s personal gain or for redressing a personal grievance against the MWPA or its Directors, or if a substantially similar proposal was submitted within the previous two years.

Any Members interested in attending are asked to RSVP by noon on September 25.

Delegates:

​

Under the current MWPA By-Laws, all Member Clubs and School Divisions (including the MFIS) who are in good standing may appoint Delegates who are entitled to vote at the Annual Meeting. Votes are accorded based on the previous year’s registration numbers.

Vortex: 200 (3 votes)

Pembina Trails School Division: 48 (1 vote)

Louis Riel School Division: 32 (1 vote)

Winnipeg School Division: 45 (1 vote)

River East-Transcona School Division: 17 (1 vote)

Manitoba Federation of Independent Schools: 22 (1 vote)

Each Board Member is also entitled to one vote (5 votes)

Names of Delegates must be provided to the MWPA no later than noon on September 25. Delegates must be at least eighteen years of age, of sound mind, and be prepared to act as the Club or School Division/MFIS representative. Once appointed, a Delegate may not vote by proxy.

Board of Director Positions:

The MWPA By-Laws currently require a minimum of five (5) and a maximum of nine (9) Directors. Up to five (5) individuals may be elected at this Annual Meeting. Under By-Law 3.12, nominations must be received no later than 7 days before the Annual Meeting and no nominations are permitted from the floor.
