
Board of Director Positions Available
The MWPA is required to have a minimum of five (5) and a maximum of nine (9) board members.
Two of the five (5) available positions were elected at the Annual Meeting in September 2025,
leaving three (3) additional positions vacant. The MWPA Board of Directors is empowered to appoint additional Board Members, or an election may be held at a Special Meeting.
Board Members are responsible for:

establishing the Bylaws and policies
-
preparing a strategic plan
-
approving the annual operational plans and budget
-
attending and participating in Board meetings
To be eligible for election as a Board Member an individual must:

be eighteen (18) years of age or older
-
have the power under law to contract
-
have not been declared incapable by a court in Canada or elsewhere
-
not be an undischarged bankrupt
-
be a member in good standing with the MWPA
The MWPA is seeking individuals to serve as Directors who:

have facility for big picture, future-oriented thinking
-
appreciate the difference between governance and management
-
have a willingness to create and initiate
-
are a team player with strong interpersonal skills
-
have knowledge or experience with a not-for-profit organization
-
can commit to a 2-year term
-
can commit an estimated 5-10 hours per month
While all are encouraged to apply, the MWPA has identified that it is in specific need of individuals with backgrounds in finance, law, policy, marketing and human resources.
