Coaching for MWPA Programs

The MWPA is seeking coaches for its programming.

By virtue of their role and responsibilities, coaches maintain a position of leadership. Due to this important role a coach plays, it is important that the MWPA retain professional coaches with the appropriate qualifications, skills and experience which will help its members reach their goals.

Every coach hired by the MWPA must be registered annually with Water Polo Canada and the MWPA prior to coaching. Without registration, coaches do not have insurance or liability coverage through Water polo Canada.  Coaches must also be screened under the MWPA Screening Policy and have NCCP certification.

It is recognized that in addition to the hours spent at the pool, there is also preparation time for a coach depending on the program and the coach's individual needs.  Depending on the program, coaches may be required to spend several hours each week preparing for practices, communicating with athletes and parents, administrative tasks, recruiting, etc.

In recognition of the above, The Board of Directors passed a Coach Compensation scale in the spring.

The MWPA is currently seeking coaches for programming starting in November. These are introductory-level programs scheduled on Friday nights from 6pm - 9pm at Cindy Klassen Rec. Complex in Winnipeg.

We respect the treaties made here and are grateful to work, live, and play on this land.
