The MWPA is committed to providing a safe and affirming environment for anyone who is committed to creating a positive space for our 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Our program requires no previous water polo experience, however individuals must be able to swim a few lengths in deep water (without stopping). Time is spent learning the rules, basic skills and strategies to play water polo at a recreational level. It also provides an opportunity for fun, fitness, and the opportunity to meet new people.

Queer folks who register may also invite friends who are allies to register. We need to ensure a safe and affirming environment for everyone!

Dates: November 7, 14, 21, 28; December 5 and 12 (Fridays)

Time: 8pm - 9pm

Location: Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex, 999 Sargent Ave

Cost: Manitoba Water Polo/Water Polo Canada "Make a Splash" membership of $30

plus only $75 for the five week session (we had some left over grant money from PRIDE Winnipeg from our June event so we are using it towards this program to keep registration low for everyone!)

If you are not sure, but might want to give it a try? We have a one-time free trial membership option through Water Polo Canada (for insurance purposes). We just ask that you pay $15 to help cover pool time and coaching.

What do I need for equipment? All you need is your bathing suit. Water polo caps will be loaned to the players. You must remove or cover your piercings, remove your jewelry and make sure the nails of your hands and feet are short. Goggles are not recommended because of the risk in getting a ball in the face.

** minimum 10 registrants required **

The Manitoba Water Polo Association acknowledges that the work we do takes place on the traditional lands and waterways of the Anishinaabeg, Anishininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Denesuline, and Nehethowuk peoples, as well as the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.

We respect the treaties made here and are grateful to work, live, and play on this land.
