The MWPA will be sending two 15U teams to the Canadian Championships in Montreal this summer to represent Manitoba for the first time in almost a decade. In the past few years, Manitoba athletes have joined teams in other provinces as we did not have enough athletes to send our own teams.

The Canadian Championships (formerly the National Provincial Championships) is an annual event that showcases the top athletes of each province. The event in Montreal is for provincial teams in the 15U category (2011 – 2014) and will take place at Parc Jean-Drapeau Aquatic Complex from June 27 to July 1.

The training program has been set up by our new Technical Lead Léo Hachem (of Team Canada) and consists of a two month training program with the sole purpose of training for the Canadian Championship.  The program Léo is creating will be implemented by local coaches Lex Mackin and Jayden Del Campo

As previously announced, the MWPA is excited to begin our partnership with Winnipeg Winter Club (WWC) with the training of Team Manitoba athletes. We also have pool time at Pan Am.  Training will also include stroke correction from Alpha Swim Club, strength and conditioning, stretching/yoga, and classroom sessions at WWC.

Team Manitoba has its first fundraiser underway with t-shirts. Click here for more info.

Did you know? Manitoba was among the first teams outside Ontario/Quebec to compete in the inaugural true Canadian National Championship in 1964.
