PDP Development Camp

Here are the details for this weekend's PDP Development Camp at Pan Am Pool!

Friday, October 24 from 7-9 pm, all athletes are invited to CF/CD and goalie training.



Saturday, October 25, all athletes will be participating in classroom and pool sessions as follows:


9 am - classroom


11am - repeat testing from April to track progress (see below)


(lunch break - lunch not provided)


2 pm - full court game (co-ed)


3 pm - all parents/guardians* of PDP athletes are invited to join in a game with their athletes!


4 pm - pizza** for athletes and participating parents/guardians


5 pm - end of day



** Please indicate any dietary restrictions for the pizza order.



Testing will include:


Accuracy test (precision): shoot at a target on the water’s surface from 8 meters.


Timed sprints: 10m and 20m (goalkeepers only 10m)


Shuttle Test: 8m sprint area


In water jumps:

  • Standard-T: the most convenient in-water jump in water polo; mainly consists of a one-arm vertical thrust from a standard defensive position

  • Semilat-T: a variation of the standard thrust performed semi-laterally

  • Quick-T: player must perform the thrust immediately with no preparation


Shots:

  • Drive-S: a drive shot

  • 2 Fake-S: a shot after two fakes (three consecutive baulking shots)

  • Pass-S: throw as quickly as possible after receiving the ball

  • For the goalie only: ability to throw from net to net



Athletes should bring:

  • notebook

  • towel

  • shorts, clean indoor shoes

  • PDP shirt

  • water

  • snacks
